Since it was first settled by Europeans the late 1800's, Seigler Valley has undergone at least two major efforts to drain and dewater the wetland and marsh complex that once dominated its center. This restoration effort has focused on restoring the marsh and surrounding wetland to their original form. Uplands surrounding the valley have also taken a beating due to importation of fill along the runway, invasion of introduced species, and grazing. A major effort has been implemented to reestablish native bunch grasses and to supplant introduced species. This effort includes the establishment of a riparian woodland in an area currently dominated by introduced grasses in the northwestern corner of the property.
