Our Weather Monitoring Station: In order to better understand the current hydrology of the marsh, Coast Range Wetlands is monitoring the temperature, humidity, windspeed, standing water depth and rainfall in Seigler Valley. This information, along with the site's evapotranspiration rate, allows Coast Range Wetlands to make suitable adjustments to the hydrology and restore wetland conditions in the area. Why hydrology is important: Hydrology is a description of the movement, distribution, and seasonal duration of water present at a site. This feature may be the single most important indicator of a wetland's establishment and maintenance. The reason for this is that once the unique physiochemical conditions of a wetland ecosystem are established, the rest of the wetland community (fauna and flora) will naturally follow suit. Data Acquisition: Data from our logger is made available to the website every ten minutes. Images are also updated periodically. | ![]() | |
